What is a haiku: a 3 line poem adding up to seventeen syllables( line one 5 syllables, line two 7 syllables, line three 5 syllables,). Most haikus are about nature.
Kia ora Giselle! Merry Christmas! I really like your haiku poem - it really does capture the powers of nature and compliments the themes in your earlier kennings poem.
Do you like to perform your poetry or are you more of a writer? I used to write a lot of poetry when I was in my teenage years about feelings connected with my natural surroundings in Africa. There is great satisfaction in capturing thoughts and ideas about the beauty in the world around us, don't you think? I really like the way words contain the magic to describe.
I hope that you continue to do more of the poetry slam challenges during the Summer Learning Journey.
Kia ora Giselle. Awesome poem and background. Remember to enter your poems into the poetry by filling in this form. Then you can visit the other poems on this site.
Well done using the 5-7-5 syllable structure. I know how tricky it can be to find words to fit perfectly in the number of syllables, so this is very impressive!
I wonder if now you could record yourself reading the haiku and post the recording to your blog, it's always very special to hear poems read by the authors.
It’s great to see in your comment above that you enjoy poetry, me too!
