Watching television does not make you clever - By Giselle

Learning Intention: we are learning  to write persuasive writing.
Success Criteria:I am successful when I can persuade someone to agree to my writing.

I think television does not make us clever 

TV can have lots of violence. It has killing , shooting, murdering and whacking. Television has lots of commercials of junk food and sweets. It will make your eyes hurt because the screen is too bright. You not do any home work because you will just watch TV.

TV makes you sleepy because if you watch too much funny cartoons you don't want to go to bed. Television can make you very lazy, just sit there and watch your funny cartoons and don't any work. Television will not make you smart it will just make you dumb, lazy and brain-less. 

Television is not good.

Should we cut down trees.

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T. - write persuasive writing. 
Success Criteria: I am successful when I can persuade people to agree to my argument.

I think we should not cut down trees.

Trees gave out oxygen we need oxygen to breath. People get fruit from trees. The builders use the wood from trees to make houses. Trees are important. 

Trees can be made into medicine to heal people. Wood from the trees can be made into school supplies. Like pencils, paper, folders, and books. We need trees to give us shade and to give homes for the poor people. Builders can use the wood from the trees to make swings and playgrounds for kids.

I think it is OK to use wood from trees but we must remember to plant many little trees in place of the ones we use.

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T - write a report.

Success Criteria: I know I am successful when I can write a report about mangroves.

  Mangroves are plants that can survive in salty water.

 Small fish, tad poles, can be found in Mangroves. Fiddler crabs live in the roots of the Mangroves. Eels can be found Mangroves.

The leaves of mangroves stop the fish from going bad in the sun. They have a store house for food.

Mangroves will always take care of the sea.

Jesus showed Respect Tapu in people- By Giselle

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T - identify ways Jesus show respect.

Success Criteria I know I am successful I can draw a picture of a Jesus showing his respect to a leper.

Jesus respected the tapu of the leper by showing Pono( integrity) and showing Aroha, (love) he heal the leper.

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T -retell one of the after Easter stories.  Success Criteria: I am successful when I can retell one after Easter stories by drawing comic strips.  

1.Peter, John, and James went fishing all night they caught  nothing.

2.There was a guy on the shore, He told the disciples to throw there net on the side of the boat.
 4.They caught lots of fish, Peter knew it was Jesus. 

5.Peter  swam towards Jesus.
6. The disciples had fish with Jesus, for breakfast.

Problems:  choose numbers that make ten than add the rest to make the numbers


1) 7+ 4+ 3=14
I know its 14 because 7 + 3 = 10 + the 4 = 14

2) 9 + 1 + 7 + 2+= 19
I know its 19 because 9 + 1 = 10 and 7 + 2 = 9 so 10 + 9 = 19

3) 2 + 6 + 3 + 8 + 7
I know its 26 because 8 + 2 = 10 + 7 + 3 = 10 so 10 + 10 = 20 +   the 6 = 26 

4) 9 + 12 + 8 + 11 + 4 =44
I know its 44 11 + 9 + 11= 20 then 12 + 8 = 20 so 20 +20 = 40 + 4 = 44

Success Criteria I know I am successful when I can multiply numbers using skip counting, doubles and repeated addition.
problems: How many marbles are there altogether

1) 
two children had 10 marbles each= I know its 20 because I skip counted by two,s 2,4,6,8,10,12,14,16,18,20
I multiply tens 10 x 2=20  I double ten = 10 + 10=20 

2)Poppy Sam and Emma  had 5 marbles each.How many marbles do they have altogether= 15 I know its 15 I skip counted five 5,10,15,
I used repeated addition 5+5+5=15
 I multiplied 5 x 3 =15

3)Bently ate 3 packets of biscuits and there are ten biscuits each packet= 30 I used repeated addition 10 + 10 + 10 I multiply 3 x 10 I skip count by ten 10,20,30,

Learning Intention-W.A.L.T- add tens to any numbers by counting in tens or adding tens together 

Success Criteria- I know I am successful when I can add tens together.

Problems:

1.40 carvings + 20 carving = 60 carvings.

I know that 2 tens + 6 tens.

2.37 bananas + 40 bananas=77

I know its 77 because 30 + 40=70+ 7=77

3.15 + 10 =30

I know its 30 because 15 + 5 = 20+ 10=30

4.6+4+2+7+8=27

I know its 27  because 6+4=10 2+ 8 =10 so 10 +10=20 + 7=27

Maui dolphins are mammals and they are cold blooded. 

Maui dolphins like to eat small fish. They like to eat squid, sea weed and flat fish.

Maui dolphins are found in the west cost of New Zealand. They live in New Zealand ocean. Some live near the river.

Maui dolphins use their tail to swim. They move there tail up and down.They also use their tail to swim faster. They use their fins to balance. They use their flippers to swim.  

Maui dolphins are grey and white. They have sharp teeth. Maui dolphins are small. The top fin on the Maui dolphin  is round.

Maui Dolphins are in dangered.

Success Criteria: I am successful when I can write a report about sharks 

Sharks are fish. They are cold blooded.

Sharks like to eat fish. They also eat sea lions, other sharks and even eat sea turtles. Sharks are grey up the top and white at the tummy. They have sharp teeth. 

Some sharks are very big and some are small. The female sharks lay fertilised egg but most sharks give birth to their young. As soon as their new pups are born, they go away and find their own food.

Sharks use their tail to move fast. They swim side to side and use their fins to balance their body. Sharks must keep swimming all the time or else they will sink.

Some sharks can also be found in rivers and lakes.  But most sharks live in the oceans. Sharks are very dangerous.

Whales are mammals. They live in water. 
 They are very big, and they look like  fish. The tail fins are called flukes, and help whales to move forward. Some whales have teeth and eat fish, squid,other whales and mammals.

Some whales don't have teeth. Some whales are blue or grey. 

Whales live in oceans. They can survive in both warm and cold water.You can find them in New Zealand.
The biggest whale is the blue whale.Whales breath air into their lungs. 

Whales are enormous.

River and sea gave us water to drink, food and a place to swim . We take our  rubbish home and put it in the bin.                                                              We pick up all rubbish to make our surroundings clean.    
We look after the trees. Grandmas and Grandpas by Giselle

Learning Intention: W.A.L.T write a recount.Success Criteria I know I can do this when I write my story in order and use capital letters,                                                                                                   On Sunday I went to my grandma and grandpa's house. When I got there we  made cupcakes and they were strawberry flavoured. Next we played a game called family feud. It was tricky and my grandma  won. I left a cupcake for my grandma and grandpa. Then we made hot cocoa and we put marshmallows in it. Next we snuggled up and watched a movie called "Little friends". 
Later my grandpa gave me a  book called "Little Riding Hood". I said thank you.  I had a great time. I  was sad because I had to go home. I waited for my mum and dad and I said good bye to them, and then I went home. I love my grandma and grandpa.                                                                                           

Ash Wednesday by Giselle

Learning Intention-W.A.L.T write a recount.                                        Success Criteria: I know I can do this when I write my story in order, and  use capital letters and full stops correctly.                         

 On Ash Wednesday the children of St.Patrick's School went to church. We gathered outside and Aleenah read her treasure writing. It was about her teddy bear. Then we went inside and we sang.           Inside the church Father Andrew put ashes in on our forehead. 

Ms. Bullot help Father Andrew. Lastly the mass was finished and we went back to school.

Learning Intention:  W.A.L.T  recognise Lent as a season for turning back to God  through prayer.
  Success Criteria:I know I am successful when I write a prayer.                                                                            -                                                             Dear God help the trees and plants to grow. Help the builders to finish our new class room by term two.  Help the people who  have no houses, shelter, and medicine. Keep our family safe and help us when we do our homework.  I am sorry for what I have done bad.
 Amen.
